Weekend Recap

Another busy weekend has come to an end. It was a great mix of events-low key and fun all at the same time.  Friday night started with a happy hour with some friends at a local restaurant.  They brew their own beer and I went with the hefeweizen.  It was definitely the best!  After a happy hour, Bobby and I headed home and watched the Jack Ryan movie.  I even managed to stay awake for the whole thing!!

Saturday morning was a Pooch Plunge at a nearby pool.  Bobby and I took Porter and my friend, Kristi, brought her pup too.  Her dog is only 8 months old, so she and Porter love to play!!  The dogs LOVED it!!  So many dogs and a pool...dog's best day ever!  We will definitely be back every year!

After the pooch plunge,  Kristi and I headed to watch a softball tournament and cheer for some of our friends.  You can't beat a great view of Liberty Memorial and downtown KC while you play.  Free beer and a laid back environment made for a perfect afternoon.

I headed home after the tournament to meet Bobby and head to his buddy's lake house.  Bobby and I, two of his friends with their wives and kids piled on the pontoon and headed out for a tour of the lake.  It was nice to relax on the boat and see the lake.  I didn't take my phone-since I am the type of person who would drop it in the water!  I did find this picture of the lake-it is beautiful!

Sunday morning started with a 5 mile run in 80% humidity.  It was rough, but I'm glad to have gotten it done.  Then we ran some errands and I found out that I was challenged to do the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS.  I must say that it was colder than I expected!!

We made pizza for dinner-pepperoni and pineapple with my fresh herbs under the cheese.  The fresh basil, oregano, thyme, and rosemary added a nice herbaceous flavor and I love using my herbs!!  Next year, I will attempt a vegetable garden too.

To round out the weekend, I started working on thank you notes.  I'm breaking it up into 3 sessions of writing because I really want to take my time and write out personal notes.  I know as I get tired, the thank yous get super lame.  Trying to prevent that!

What was the highlight of your weekend?
