Baby Showers R Us

My little sister is having a baby!! We are all so excited and can't wait to meet the little boy or girl.

10 of her friends and coworkers offered to help me throw a shower for her. My sister in law designed these amazing invitations. She is so talented!!

We kept it to cake and punch and games. Simple decorations from white to khaki...the mommy to be's favorite color palette.

One of the girls took care of the cakes. Didn't they turn out so cute??

I put together a fun survey for the guests to fill out. I emailed the future grandmas for the answers.

I also had guests write stories, advice, or fun anecdotes on diapers. It will spice up those late night changes!  Pinterest had lots of cute ideas for this one.

We also let all of the guests choose a pink or blue necklace. I stole this idea from Baby Freckle's reveal. I thought it was so cute and fun! Everyone loved it and lots of people picked boy even though the old wives tales point to girl.

My mom and I dipped pretzels in almond bark for a sweet little favor.

It was so nice working with these ladies to host a fun shower!

Sisters!

I can't wait to meet my niece or nephew. I'm team girl all the way, but plan to spoil our newest family member no matter what!!

Moms-what is the best gift you received at your shower?

Happy Friday

I can't believe how fast 2015 is flying by!  I must admit that I am having a hard time finding balance this year.  I changed positions at work and have a lot more responsibility...therefore, my little blog has suffered tremedously!  I promise that I will get it together.

I'm very much looking forward to a more low key weekend.  Date night with the hubs tonight to celebrate his birthday and then a few small gatherings.  Recovery sounds fantastic and is much needed!!!

Have you struggled to find balance?  I think everyone does and it is a personal preference as to what that looks like.  To me it is spending time with my loved ones while still being driven at work and pushing myself fitness wise (aka races).  I  love my blog, but it is not at the top of my priority list.  So, if I don't have pictures, a great workout, or recipes to share...I'm probably going to skip a post.  I don't want to just post junk to post something.

I appreciate those of you who will stick with me and hopefully enjoy the ride while I get the balance back.

Happy Friday!!  I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!!

Happy St. Pats Day!!

Happy St. Patrick's Day! I usually celebrate with green beer and friends...which I did this weekend, but I'm not ruling out more celebrating tonight. :)

In other news...let's catch up.

Currently-
I ordered new face wash and moisturizer from Mary Kay. Gotta take care of the skin!

I'm still training for my upcoming spring half marathons. I had to make up my long run from the weekend on Monday. The weather was awesome, but my run was weak sauce! Dehydration and lots of sweating=slow runs...but slow runs are better than no runs!

Reading-I'm finally finishing the Fifty Shades series. I just started the final book and am looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Eating-Bobby has been grilling out as much as possible.  I'm so happy that Spring arrived!! Now I just hope it stays.

Speaking of amazing weather; We have also been enjoying time in the backyard with the fur kids.  Even the cat loves it outside! He just stays on the porch.

What are you up to lately?

Bachelorette Party in OKC

One of my best friends since elementary school is getting married this year. We met in Oklahoma City to celebrate her bachelorette party this weekend. It was a great time!!

We decorated the room with a few essentials...snacks, games, balloons, champagne...

Cheer!  It's always great to start with a champagne toast!!

I ordered these adorable glasses for everyone off of etsy. I loved how they came out.

One of the other girls couldn't make it, but sent recovery kits. Advil, sunglasses, face wipes, eos Chapstick, and more. They were so cute! (Don't mind the selfie stick. I couldn't get it out of the shot.)

Speaking of shots, one of the game was Jell-O shots! I emailed her fiancé with a few questions and made a cute little book. If she got it right, then we all took a Jell-O shot. If she got it wrong, then she took one. I got the idea/inspiration from Julie at PB Fingers.

Next up was the lingerie shower. How cute are these embroidered panties??

We went for a sushi dinner and then out to a chill bar on night one. Everyone had traveled all day, so it was nice to relax!

There was a St Pattys parade nearby. So we checked it out for a little bit on Saturday morning.

Followed by lunch and some green beers. You must drink green beer at St Pattys festivities!

Next up, Pinots Palette. Our class was really fun. Lots of music, a fun instructor, and bottomless mimosas!!  My elephant looks old, but I like him.

We went to a nice dinner and out dancing on Saturday night.

All in all, it was a great weekend!! I can't wait to celebrate with them later this summer!!

Throwback Thursday

The Big 12 Tourney started last night. I'm throwing back to 2011 when Bobby and I bought tickets to each session of the tournament.

Bobby is a Kansas fan, so his team is always good! Texas has been struggling, but still has a chance at making the NCAA tournament. Hook em!

We were a couple divided at the championship game.

KU won out in the end (as usual), but it was a fun few days of attending basketball games!

Do you love March Madness? I love the competition and excitement of the tournaments! I can't wait for the NCAA tourney!  Linking up with .spoons for TOL.

StitchFix Review-March 2015

I admit it, I am totally addicted to StitchFix (referral link).  I love getting fun new clothes in the mail!!  If you haven't heard of StitchFix, it is a super convenient and fun way to get new clothes.  Simply fill out the Stitch Fix Style Profile and their personal stylists will handpick a selection of five clothing items and accessories unique to your taste, budget and lifestyle. Simply buy what you like and return the rest.

I link mine to my style board in Pinterest, so it is always fun to see what arrives.  I almost always keep at least 2 items.  Here is what I received in this fix.

Elle Woven Clutch-$38.00-I requested this clutch.  I was so happy when I saw that it was in the fix!  I love the navy and the woven pattern.  KEPT

Gabe Maxi Skirt-$48.00-This is a super comfy and cute maxi skirt.  I already have a black and white striped maxi dress that I love, so I decided to return this one.  RETURNED

Zillah Color Block Ponte Dress-$78.00-The stretch to the material and color blocking made for something that I would not normally choose for myself.  This dress is a great example of why I do StitchFix.  It takes me out of my comfort zone.  It is so comfortable and the color blocking helps camouflage some areas that I am not loving right now.  KEPT

Pasha Textured Dress-$74.00-This black dress is fun and flirty.  It is a really cute dress and a cut that I would try again.  The dress was a little short and already had some threads pulling.  It just didn't seem to be a good quality for the price.  RETURNED

Isaac Floral Print Tab-Sleeve Blouse-$48.00-I heard that florals are in this spring.  This flowy and light shirt is a great transition to Spring.  It pairs great with a pair of skinny jeans.  KEPT

Overall this fix was a win.  I kept 3 items and I feel like the stylists are really starting to understand my likes and dislikes.  Do you StitchFix?

Weekend Recap

My weekend started with this beautiful sunset!

Bobby had plans with his friends so I had a great night home alone. Terrible tv, wine and puppy snuggles...such a great night!

I started Saturday with a little over 7 miles with my running buddy. We were supposed to do 8, but I wasn't feeling it. I struggled through and was happy to log the miles!

My friend invited me and a couple of friends to Lawrence, KS for a craft beer fest on Saturday.  We met at her house and went to lunch with her cute kids!

We hit up a fantastic pizza place. I had a margherita pizza...drizzled with olive oil!! One of the girls got a pizza with an over easy egg. I had never heard of it, but it was really good!

She dropped the kids with a sitter and we went to the Kansas Craft Brewers Expo.

Cheers!  There were so many great beers. I enjoyed tasting quite a few great Oatmeal Stouts, reds, and many other delicious beers!

There were 39 brewers at the expo. It's a good thing that the venue was huge!

Spring finally arrived! Bobby and I celebrated by sitting on the patio with a beer and grilling out for dinner. The 10 day forecast looks awesome and I can't wait for more trail runs!

Also...yesterday was International Women's Day. Make sure you tell the women in your life that you love them!

Happy Monday!
