Food Truck Fun

We had amazing weather this weekend. Bobby and I hit up a food truck event benefiting Harvesters, a local food bank.  We decided to get tickets to try each truck-6 in total.  The event was really well run-with tons of water available and a fun atmosphere!

This random guy was walking around with his bird...definitely odd!

There was even a fun band that kept the crowd energy up.

The first truck we went to had cajun food.  We got red beans and rice and jambalya.  They were great when you took a bite with both on your spork!  The second truck was BBQ.  We got a chipotle chicken slider and a pulled pork slider.  These were our favorite food of the event.  The third truck served chinese food.  Fried rice and bochi (chicken leg stuffed with fried rice and tossed in the sauce of your choice).  It wasn't our fave, but it wasn't bad.  Forth, we went to the most well known truck.  They served burgers.  So we got a spicy chicken slider and a beef slider with bacon jam and coleslaw.  It was really good, but the BBQ truck had the best food!!

The fifth and sixth trucks both had crazy long lines.  We decided to choose one and skip the last truck.  It was a good decision.  We went with the cupcake and coffee truck.  We waited in line for an hour!!!  They ran out of cupcakes 3 people in front of us, so we settled for muffins (which we saved for breakfast Sunday) and smoothies.  The smoothies were really delicious...so delicious that I didn't even take a picture!!

We had a great day!!  Do you ever eat at food trucks?  What is your favorite food from a food truck?

  2. I love food trucks! They have come a long way from when they were known as "roach coaches"... maybe I'm dating myself here. In the Bay Area (San Francisco), food trucks are so popular, they organize once a week at different locations at something called "Off the Grid" (http://offthegridsf.com/). When we lived in California, we would go to those gatherings pretty frequently...

    1. That sounds really fun to go "off the grid". It is a great and less expensive way to try new things! :)
